How to Clean a Sapphire Ring?
Sapphire is the birthstone for September and has been around since ancient times. It is a very durable stone and most commonly comes in shades of blue. Sapphire rings are popular pieces of jewelry and can be easily cleaned by following these simple steps.
- Polish the ring with a clean cloth. This removes any dirt and oil that has built up while you have been wearing it.
- Place the sapphire ring on top of a towel. Use a commercial fine jewelry cleaner to begin scrubbing the ring. These cleaners typically come with a soft bristled brush that you can use.
- Clean the entire ring thoroughly. Scrub the prong area, the inside and the outside of the band.
- Fill a bowl with lukewarm water. Submerge the ring in the water for several minutes to remove all dirt and soap residue.
- Dry the ring with a soft towel. Return the ring to your finger or place in a cool, dry area for storage.
- Wash the jewelry cleaner brush. You want to clean the brush before you replace the brush into the cleaning solution.
